Our COaches

John Coakley(JC)

As a little kid (we’re talking 70’s) I was a huge fan of kung-fu theatre & obsessed with all things Bruce Lee. As a bullied kid some combat training could have been useful, but at that time & place in the world it simply wasn’t available.

It was actually a very scary encounter many years later my wife Jessy had to endure that spurred her to train Jiu Jitsu for self defense & she used me as her training partner at home. When I realized the power of the martial art I got completely hooked. I needed to learn everything & anything about this amazing thing that actually WORKED. I have been studying & working nonstop for over a dozen years & have had the opportunity to train at schools all over the world. Today I am so stoked & proud to be part of the SBG tribe!

When I’m not on the mat, I love cinema, swordplay & sauna. I have a keen interest in Samurai history, & have two amazing dogs named accordingly, Yuki & Shiro.

Jon Molofsky

I have lived in Teton Valley for a little over fifteen years.  I was born in Baltimore Maryland and grew up in New Hampshire. I have always had a strong passion for fitness and exploring the outdoors.

I attended the Culinary Institute of America after high school and worked as a chef for twenty years. After living the fast-paced lifestyle and late nights in a kitchen I decided to pursue a career in coaching to help others reach their fitness goals.

If I am not in the gym training or coaching others, I am most likely on the mat training jiu jitsu, riding adventure bikes, skiing or hiking in the woods. I also enjoy doing something fun outside with my wife and dogs.

I started jiu jitsu when I was 10 and immediately loved it! I have been doing it for 5 years and have really enjoyed the journey of learning this incredible martial art. It’s been an honor training with some amazing people and I’m really looking forward to what the coming years bring.

When I’m not training or teaching, I love hiking in the mountains, taking photos, & training Japanese Iaido.
